Sleep Program educates children on the benefits of healthy sleep habits, helps them to establish a healthy bedtime routine and provides them with the bedtime essentials to sleep well. After being taught the educational component of the program, each child receives a sleep kit including, a sleeping bag, nightshirt, socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, sleep activity book, crayons, stuffed animal and more. Currently, Sweet Dreamzzz has helped more than 26,000 children using the high-quality, detailed and relentless work of many volunteers and supporting corporations and individuals. With 47.8% of Detroit children living below the poverty level in 2004, Sweet Dreamzzz mission is to ensure that all these children have a warm, comfortable night's sleep and that they be educated regarding the importance of sleep.
The National Sleep Foundation has stated that "sleep is sometimes given a low priority in modern life, taking a back seat to our busy schedules and life styles. Yet, as scientists in the field of sleep medicine continue to discover, sleep is a dynamic activity in its own right, that is as essential to good health as diet and exercise, and as necessary for survival as food and water."
Sweet Dreamzzz, Inc. is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. Donations are tax-deductible under the provisions of the Internal Revenue Service.
