Sweet Dreamzzz Detroit is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping at-risk kids get a good night's sleep so they can do better in school. Partnering with the National Center on Sleep Disorders Research, and Oakland University School of Education and Human Services, Sweet Dreamzzz Detroit's Rest. Educate. Motivate. (R.E.M.) Program educates students on the benefits of healthy sleep habits. Along with the education, Sweet Dreamzzz provides sleep provisions to the children in Southeast Michigan that are sleeping in deplorable situations. The sleep kit includes: a sleeping bag, nightshirt, socks, toothbrush, toothpaste, stuffed animal, activity book and crayons.
Currently, Sweet Dreamzzz has helped more than 16,000 children using the high-quality, detailed and relentless work of many volunteers and supporting corporations and individuals. With 47.8% of Detroit children living below the poverty level in 2004, Sweet Dreamzzz Detroit's mission is to ensure that all these children have a warm, comfortable night's sleep and that they be educated regarding the importance of sleep.
